Electromagnetic Compatibility (EMC) is a crucial but often misunderstood aspect of every space flight project. John McCloskey (Chief Electromagnetic Compatibility (EMC) Engineer at NASA Goddard Space Flight Center in Greenbelt Maryland) will be providing an overview of EMC principles, their application in a space environment, mitigation strategies, and examples of undesirable results when these strategies are not implemented.
John has worked at Goddard since May 1988 after earning his B.S. in Electrical Engineering from Penn State University. He supports a variety of projects, most notably the James Webb Space Telescope (JWST), which is scheduled for launch in 2018. John really enjoys teaching and training, and he has provided many EMC training and education opportunities for the Goddard workforce.
